A month or so ago I was peeking at the Christmas decorations (way back when they were just setting them out on the store shelves...). I've had this idea in my mind for a long time, and hoped I would find what I was looking for.... and I did!
I picked up this little "before" nativity with hopes I could make it my own, you know the drill... change the paint, lots of glitter and add more pink!
Here are a few of the details.
I used THIS TRICK to heat the glue to easily remove the figures off of the wood. Next, I painted the entire set of figures and wood in simple craft paint. Takes a few coats... in case you are going to try this project for yourself... be patient and let each coat fully dry.
Next, I coated the figures in a mixture of white glass glitter and ultra-fine iridescent glitter and embellished with flowers and ribbon.
I embellished the top of the nativity with crepe paper, velvet and silk ribbon, a millinery flower and a sparkly jewel and added some pink hay... then glued the figures back into place. I ADORE the results.... it is exactly as I had pictured in my mind!
I am working on a few more of these for my shop, which will be updated in the next couple of days... I'll keep you posted! :0)
Happy Holidays!
That's just adorable. The Nativity scene looks like sugar covered marshmallows.

Gorgeous!!! I collect nativity scenes. My favorite is one that's solid white that my mom gave me. I may have to find one to try this on to add to my collection next year. Thanks for sharing.
