I'm back!

Just popping in with a few photos from our trip to Disneyland and California Adventure.

We had a SUPER FUN time! Thanks to all who wished us well!!

I need to make this a quick post, so It'll be mostly photos...

We enjoyed a breakfast with the Disney characters... if you ever go to Disneyland with kids, this is a MUST! All the characters come to your table and visit with the kids, sign autographs and take photos... SO FUN!

Junque in My Trunk

I haven't posted a regular old blog in a while. We've been so busy with showing and telling lately that I've sort of neglected to write anything else.

Anyway, so I thought now was a good time to sit down and share a bit.

So, the sweet darling of a gal, Heather at Pretty Petals hosted a swap.

Cute, right?

So we are to make a trunk and fill it with "junque" for our swappy partner.

I was ecstatic to find that I was Miss Jenn's partner! Her blog is called Sweet Eye Candy Creations, and if you've never visited her blog and shop, you MUST!

I just adore everything she makes and the photos she shares of her home are just absolutely amazing!! Jenn and I enjoy the same color palette and vintage goodies, so we made really good partners! :0)

She showed me a few sneak peeks yesterday and I was SOOO EXCITED when I saw that my package had arrived today!

Seriously, I had to slow myself down so I could take photos... I wanted to just tear into it!!!

I took more than 20 photos, so you'll have to be patient with me.

:0)

I just want to show every single detail that Jenn added to my package...

it is just so perfect!

Just look at all these goodies! This was SO MUCH FUN to open!

This pretty pink package is from Paper Nosh... so fabulous!

I almost fell out of my chair when I opened these STUNNING Marie Antoinette cards... they are GORGEOUS! I don't think I can EVER use them, I love them too much!!

When I opened these, I was just so excited, this package can't get any better, I swear!

This is a vintage perfume bottle with the original label marked "Budding Beauty", Jenn has filled with the best color of aqua glitter! I just love it!

And this little sweetie is so adorable!  I love her porcelain lace dress and sweet rosy cheeks! Look at those little lips! Oh!

So, needless to say, I was a lucky gal today! I can't wait to show everything off and use all of my goodies!!

I guess that's a good thing. But I'm just so dang tired afterward, I just want to lay around and watch tv and eat ice cream uuuh, drink ice water.

So I guess it's my turn to make my way to the front of the class with my collection... I was always soooo nervous doing show and tell at school. I wanted everything to be perfect, but I was also the one who was going to impress the class with my totally unique item that I thought no one else could possibly have... obviously not the case ...  he he he

My collections are very modest... not very big at all, but they are meaningful.

 

Where do I begin?

Let's see, a while back I started picking up hankys... just a few.

My collection of hankys is actually pretty small. I usually end up looking and not buying. When I do buy one, it's usually for a gift for someone else. I showed this photo in my last post, but this is an example of how I've given hankys as gifts before... as gift wrap... love how they come out... pretty wrapping all by themselves.

These are the boxes shown in the current issue of Somerset Life magazine.

 

These initialed hankys, I'm saving for my daughters...

This embroidered butterfly hanky was a gift from my husband's mom to me. It has been in her family for many years.

This next hanky was a gift from my mom. She gave it to me for Mother's Day a couple of years ago... I still have the note card she wrote to go along with it. It was her mom's hanky and she had given it to my mom several years ago.

I think it's the only item I have that actually belonged my grandma.

But the little violets are just so sweet. One of my mom's favorite flowers.

The thing that I actually collect and look for in my ventures are these little hanky folders or hanky cases.

They are little folders, usually made a little fancier, with better fabrics and laces, to carry the hanky in...

They are a bit harder to find, but when you do, it is usually a real treasure!

I have been fortunate enough to come across a few of these GORGEOUS vintage linen cases... they are embroidered with floral cut work and SOOO PRETTY!

 

This last one is my TOTAL FAVORITE! It is simple, yet just adorable! The corners are tied with pink silk ribbon, just the softest....

Well, I think that this post has gotten a little long... you might need a refill on your drink by now...

Welcome to the 2nd Show and Tell Sunday Party!

Today, many of us in blog land are sharing our collections of Vintage Millinery Hats, Flowers, Leaves and Trims and the boxes they come in. If you are unfamiliar with vintage millinery, let me just share a tiny bit about it...

Millinery is word for hats and articles made from a milliner or a hatter (remember the mad hatter from Alice in Wonderland?? He was a milliner...) So all the accessories that go with hats and sometimes dresses is what we call MILLINERY. Go HERE for a more detailed definition.

Many crafters and antique lovers collect vintage hats and hat trims and flowers, for their sheer beauty and unique designs. They are often tattered and worn, only adding to their beauty, in my opinion.

So, those of us who have collections, big or small, are sharing them with you today.

The first vintage flower (show at the top) is from my sweet blog friend Natalea at Kandeland. I just adore it! It is definitely one of my favorites!

Next, I have a few vintage hats sitting around the house, just adding a bit of charm to where ever they sit.

All of them are thrift store finds. I have never paid more than $5 for a hat in a thrift shop or a yard sale. Lucky, I know.

I just love the details in this hat. The stamens are double dipped, adding just the right touch to these velvet posies.

This is a vintage child's hat, it is my all time favorite hat. My daughter wore it to a Victorian Tea and won the prize for best hat.

I also have a small and growing collection of millinery flowers that have abandoned the hats they once adorned. Nonetheless, they are still very beautiful.

I found this beauty on etsy just the other day! I purchased it at Nostalgic Art by Kim Davis, I ADORE IT!

It has the palest of pinks velvet ribbon and netting... yum!

Well, my vacation is over... :0(

I've had a nice two weeks off... I really needed it too! I did accomplish most things on my to do list, with the exception of a few items... oh well.

I am still working on my Studio... of course, now I've been working in it, so there are ribbons, glitter and foof EVERYWHERE! I did manage to sort some bits and pieces into this vintage muffin tin...

 

And you know what? I NEVER EVEN GOT A PEDICURE! Sad huh?

Maybe this week I'll finally get one, I hope.
