checking in
So, back to getting organized. Am I alone when I say that I can't seem to ever arrive?
My bff Aly is one of the most organized people I know. How she does it with 3 kids, one will never know, but it's just how she is. She is just naturally a clean freak. Her laundry always seems to be clean AND put away.
Then there is me.
If you show up to my house right now, you would find 3 piles of laundry all around my living room. They have been picked thru by 3 children and 2 exhausted adults who are preparing to leave for a week of summer camp.
It's a wreck around here. Oh well. I'm not really complaining, I'm just more... stating the facts.
It would not be so bad if I were sending them off to camp without me. I would feel a little more at ease...
No, I am the camp counselor who is taking them all to camp! It's crazy, I know. Buuut, I'm looking forward to a week away from normal living. I'm hoping I can find some inspiration, give my mind a rest and also get a little sun.
(one does not get much sun sitting in front of a computer screen....)
So, that's this week. I'll be home next weekend and I'll check in with you all then and let you know how camp was...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
But, before that, I have a few other things I've been meaning to share!
First, I was organizing my trims, and decided to do something fun with them. First, I wrapped them around plain manilla taggies:
Then, I found this old gadget I bought a few years ago at IKEA... I love IKEA, don't you? It's basically a hanging line with little jaw clippies that hang, so you could hang curtains, or kids artwork or important papers...
I thought it would be a cute way to hang my trim tags, so that I can see them and admire them, instead of filling up random boxes.
I used all my hangers already, now I need to order some more...
Cute, right? So, as you can see below, I need to finish up so that it fills the whole line, sort of like a trim valance?
You have a wonderful storage idea. Creative. If you were not complaining (which your not) about being the counselor you would be sad they were leaving away from you. It is the Mommy in us. But sometimes anything away from doing the dishes and ugh, laundry is great isn't it? Have fun.
How funny, I'm in Clovis! As you're in the neighborhood, I have a question. Any hot tips on where (and when) to thrift shop? Perusing your blog, you seem to have great luck. Mine...not so great!
Hope camp was wonderful (Hume Lake?). You're back just in time for more heat!
Thanks!
I love how you organized your trims! It is like shoping, everything is there for beautiful pickings! Like raspberries and blueberries ready to be plucked.
Hello! I read your blog often. There is always such lovely eye candy! I too bought the wire/clips from Ikea in the past and I hang my children's birthday cards on them- so that they can enjoy them all year. Oh and I too am going to Silver Bella! It would be very nice to meet you in person:)
First, four-star Ikea idea! They are the best and I love the way your trims look! That gives me a great idea for using the tags for little bobs of yarn that are leftover.
Second, the Somerset Life photos were absolutely lovely (though my dear, non-Somersetty love of life Rick absolutely did NOT understand the stapler!) The wands, clipboards -- all lovely!
What a brilliant idea! You're so clever!
p.s. The laundry situation is the exact same here. No matter how much I wish, the laundry just doesn't seem to put itself away! lol
I've never been to IKEA but I really should. I love how cute it all looks hung up. Am I the only person in the world not going to Silver Bella? I think so.
You're a genious! See... you can't have clean laundry and bathroms AND think up great ideas like that at the same time!!! Don't worry...I'm working on 6 loads of laundry right now....well I'm supposed to be working on 6 loads of laundry....since I'm technically blogging right now.... This is why our houses are a mess :)
I love IKEA too. I rarely get to go but now that there is one in South Sacramento, I can feel like it's closer to home should I get some time to do that. I love their cheap frames.
I love what you did with the trim line! Very cool!
I'm one of those organized people--I have to say. I'm a clean freak too--it has it's downsides, trust me.
For instance--I don't camp.
Camping is not for the insanely tidy.
Have fun on your trip!
So excited you'll be at Silver Bella!
Hi. Cathy sent me. My home is kinda neat but I think being organized is over-rated. Having great stuff and usually finding it is higher on my list!
